My Vision
My passion for public service and law enforcement has inspired me to run for Floyd County Sheriff.
Steve Bush is a proven dedicated leader with experience! His many years as both a police commander at New Albany Police Department and a Floyd County Commissioner have uniquely qualified him to be the next sheriff of Floyd County.
My Vision:

Fortitude

Commitment

Service

Dedication
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department will enforce the laws, interact with the public, and provide care and custody of inmates in a fair and impartial manner. Police Officers will focus on SERVICE to the community while acting as First Responders. They will also detect and deter crime with FORTITUDE while maintaining a professional bearing. I will ensure that DEDICATION to keeping the community safe and secure with a strong COMMITMENT to maintaining the positive reputation of the Department will be paramount to all employees.
My Goals as Sheriff:
Safety
I will continue the strong partnerships and mutual trust that already exists between the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department and our community. Those partnerships are critical to maintaining public safety and effective policing. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department relies on the cooperation of our community members to provide information about crime in their neighborhoods, and FCSO will continue to work with our community to devise solutions to crime and disorder problems.
Security
I will develop competent leaders from inside the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, through leadership and professional development training and I will empower those leaders to meet the current challenges facing law enforcement today. I will also employ a leadership succession plan throughout the department that prepares future leaders for future challenges.
Service
Service is a vitally important measure to the success of the Sheriff’s Department. Providing quality service means I am an effective sheriff. In order to accurately measure the service the department is providing I plan to attend as many community board and association meetings as possible. By doing this I will create a comprehensive feedback system so I will know how well the sheriff’s department is serving our community. I believe boards and associations such as; homeowner associations, interfaith council, one southern Indiana, and many more boards and associations will give me real-time feedback as to how our community and its stakeholders are being served. With that knowledge I will make adjustments, so our community gets the best service the department has to offer.
